Immersion Week | Written by 【 Uniquely XC™ 】

this week marked the start of our immersion with the Beijing students in another school a few minutes walk away, we were lead by hosts and mine was a girl! Sat at the back during lessons, falling asleep every now and then, ate their oily food, talked to the host, this routine continued on for the rest of the week......

Tuesday
Another few trip day, this time to the Lu Gou Qiao and the remnants of the first Beijing Man (WOW), this was another quality field trip brought to us by the school and we fortunately had a coach to pick us up, the bridge was 'interesting', counting the lions and admiring the magnificent view it entail

With another long bus ride to the remnants site, we plugged our headphones and drifted off to dreamland again.....
However, with an unexpected twist of events, we had to walk a distance due the to closure of a bridge, dam!

Looked through holes and saw the skulls of the first Beijing man....thats it

The Forbidden City | Written by 【 Uniquely XC™ 】

Woots, finally the time have came for us to visit the forbidden city, the place of 5000 years of preserved chinese culture and history. Everyone is excited to get a taste of historical grandeur soak up in the atmosphere of the old historical relic.
Took our favourite line, 22, front-engined, articulated bus from our dorms in the early morning to 前门, before walking to the grand Tiananmen Square. Pictures aside, everyone is stopping here and there to admire the sheer size of the square, prompting responses from the teachers who shouted at us to move quickly.
As usual a guide was provided for us......walked around the premises with much of the structures being blocked and under refurbishment until 16 years later when it would FINALLY be completed. The whole tour took about 2 hours before we exited the city and visited Tiananmen, possible one of the most symbolic structure of Beijing and China.
Lunch was an expensive affair at 面爱面
老舍茶馆was next as we sat on stools, drank tea and watched some interesting performance before YU HUI ACCIDENTALLY spilled tea all over my pants..... Luckily it was dry and before the whole show was over, my pants were oven dry : )

Went to 金五星 again, looking for a mouse but came back with nothing again...talk about window shopping

Week 2 | Written by 【 Uniquely XC™ 】

After a week of fun and shopping, its time that we get into full steam and mug for our math tests. Books were flung everywhere, as people started their last minute revisions for the upcoming 'killer' math test on Friday.

Field trip on Tuesday to the Temple of Heaven were fraught with Mathematics Argument on which Trig formulas to be used for different questions. Bought myself a Temple of Heaven guide and tourist map for RMB$20.

Had Peking duck again for lunch before heading to the Song Qi Lin residence for another boring and meaningless tour of an old relic. Our feet were sore from the long distances we have to walk, our minds confused by the maze like 胡同 of the area

Finally, it was time to rest of weary body, headed out to 金五星to get some computer games and a replacement for my long spoilt sony ericsson earphones...

city planning museum, got to know just a little more about Beijing and her journey to what she is now, incited some nationalistic feelings in me, otherwise, it is one big chunk of propaganda that would lead you into thinking that China is some heavenly city

Bought a Timberland wallet for 60 Yuan, 2 t-shirts for 120 yuan (It obvious that is a scam) and a 2GB memory card for 110 Yuan (What a nice buy, iy works unlike some 8GB thumbdrive which broke down upon plugging into the laptop)
