2008 in review | Written by 【 Uniquely XC™ 】

2008 has finally come to an end and i think it would be great to countdown my 10 most exciting happenings this year

Warning: Cheesy Language Alert

10. Batch Dinner 2008 -This was really one of the best days of my life, taking pictures, mingling around with friends teachers for one last night before we go our separate ways in 2009

9. The Quest 2008 - This was the first national amazing race that I have participated with 5 of my closest friends. It was certainly a once in a lifetime experience for me we won something : ) Allowed me to learn more about my personality and others as well. Lets participate again in 2009 guys

8.Emcee for Founder's Day 2008 - Hmm, to some this might not seem as much. However, inside me, being emcee for this grand event with even the media present is one of the chapters of my life that I would never forget. It has gave me self-confidence, allowing me to be able to tackle even greater challenges ahead.

7. Esplanade Concert 2008 - This is my first and probably going to be my last time performing at such a prestigious place. A unique experience ; )

6. HCISO Farewell Chalet - I am really grateful to the junior excos for organizing such a farewell party for us, it makes us really feel appreciated in this musical family. I believed everyone had a fun time and it definitely ended our HCISO life with a BANG (No pun intended)

5. Project Benevolence 2008: My first service learning project and definitely NOT my last. It was a roller coaster ride by we have rode it out. Thanks to Naifu, Yi Cheng and Wilfred for making this possible. For just the journey alone, it has landed on the fifth spot.

4. Chronicles of Strings: Serenada (dont know how to type Russian) 2008: Another great concert and it is possibly considered the swansong for us sec 4s in HCISO. Definitely a success and allowed me to experience the HCISO spirit for the one last time. Also, it is probably a good time to wish HCISO a great year ahead!

3. Canada 2008 - This trip is special in 2 ways 1. It was during school days, so I was enjoying myself while the rest of you are slugging throught tons of homework and lessons Haha 2. Its the first time that I have been to Canada and only the second time to the distant continent of North America. Not just a holiday, it allowed me to understand their culture and way of life much better

2. OSA Recipient 2008 - This was the best surprise for me in 2008, just a few months ago, I thought all my hopes of getting this was dashed by my dismal math results. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I received my report card 1.34, I have my OSA. All this years of hard work....

And the number one happening of 2008 for me and I am sure for many others would be..........

BEIJING SATELITTE CAMPUS
It had been a completely wild experience for us. Late nights everyday, going out for shopping every weekend, doing whatever we like. Really hoped that it was for more than one month. For all the thrills, laughter and friends made during that one month, it is the TOP happening for me in 2008.

Whats yours?

WISHING YOU A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Dad's Birthday | Written by 【 Uniquely XC™ 】

Celebrated my dad's birthday on Saturday. Initially wanted to go for the sushi buffet at Sakae sushi, but in the end we went to the new Jurong Point instead.

WTF, the place is colossal, with over 2000 car parking lots, will get lost just trying to find your car one lor! Roamed around the place looking for nice food, Zhou's Kitchen, Dian Xiao Er, Pizza Hut, etc etc, all looked a bit too shabby. So in the end, we chose japanese and went for Kuishin Bo Authentic Japanese buffet at the japanese food street.

Definitely not cheap, S$33 per person, but there is wide spread of japanese delicacy, all kinds of sashimi, oysters, crabs, prawns, shellfish, and the usual Japanese teppanyaki, and tempura, soba, ramen. There is even the paper steamboat and chocolate fondue, which isnt exactly japanese, but nice nonetheless.

Dessert include Japanese ice cream, mochi balls, chocolate and strawberry mousse, and cakes.

Drinks are also include in the price.

It was a great meal, stuffed ourselves full of sashimi and the really tasty crabs on ice.

Next, Mariott/Ritz carlton for my Grandfather's birthday

HCISO Chalet | Written by 【 Uniquely XC™ 】

Went for the HCISO Sec 4 farewell from wed to friday, met up with Jason , Jonathan, Zhihao, Mok, Congning, Larry, Gary and Enying at Giant Tampines around 1pm
Missed the shuttle bus, so have to take a cab to the ulu warehouse retail sales area. Stocked up on supplies. Being himself, Jason over stocked on candies and sweets so in the end, we have to take them out secretly while he was conducting private choir lessons.

Reached the chalet at 3pm via cab AGAIN, however, we can check in as we need an 18 year old supervison, a.k.a Miss Jennifer Ting, who incidentally was late. Finally got to check in at around 4pm.

Being a no soccer guy, I stayed at the chalet with Chay Choong while the rest went to play soccer at Pasir Ris park. Triued to acces wi Fi at the chalet but instead got intermittent signals that were no good in trying to find out the way to changi village.

Played a while of cards and then went to fetch Wilfred, who have no idea where he was going. Since we were out anyway, we decided to go and rent bikes. To our dismay, the bikes were all reserved. SO in the end, we have to walked about 15 minutes to the next nearest bike rental place. Foolishly bought a lock when I mistakenly believed that bikes cannot be brought into the chalet *weeps*

Had a nice BBQ and I did some of the cooking towards the end of the BBQ. Chatted about the economic crisis and played some lame iPhone games before embarking on our night cycling trip

Talking about night cycling, we managed to cycle to Changi village without any fuss, however, in the midst of making our way to east coast park, larry mounted a kerb and fell, resulting in a punctured tire, thereby cutting short of our biking trip. But alas, it was fun overall. :)

Went back bathe, played cards and slept

The second day was a bit less eventful,
Woke up
Have breakfast
Cycled around at Pasir Ris Park
Played blackjack and Poker
Lunch, with most ppl leaving after that
Escape theme park with the only ppl left, Me, Mok, cong ning and Alvin, who just came around lunchtime
Dinner at Subway
Home sweet home

To end this off, A very big hug and thanks for the juniors for planning this farewell chalet ;)

Life as it is | Written by 【 Uniquely XC™ 】

Quite a lot of things have happened after I posted the last time

  1. Attended the JC String Ensemble orientation, it was quite ok la. Got to know a number of NYSE sec 4s
  2. Celebrated my bro's birthday at the Night Safari
  3. Watched Bolt 3D during one of the preview sessions at Eng Wah Suntec. The 3D experience was novel and kind of exciting for the first half of the movie, but after getting used to the 3D effects, its almost the same as 2D :/ Cant wait for Monsters vs Aliens 3D to be out in cinemas
  4. Attended the JC String Orch rehearsal, had an unpleasant start to it, shall not elaborate on it anymore
  5. Went to visit the HCISO juniors during their camp after rehearsal, listened to their grievances. Due to someone's incessant mentioning of incident earlier on to EVERYONE, decided to cab home earlier than expected *irritated*
Guess thats all that happened to me for the past week, still havent been able to successfully set a date for SLC outing, gosh, there would always be someone that cannot make it...

Just livin' my life
